Summer is here and the temperatures are quickly warming up. To beat the heat, Northern Virginia has plenty of water parks to help residents cool off.
1. Signal Bay Waterpark

Signal Bay Waterpark‘s 27,000 square foot facility is large enough to feel accommodating while still being small enough to maintain a community feel. It is equipped with slides, a zero-depth entry leisure pool, water cannons, and a lazy river. Season passes are available for frequent visitors, making it a convenient pastime for the entire summer.
2. Great Waves Waterpark

At Great Waves Waterpark, you can cool off in the wave pool or get a rush from the fast water slides. For the little ones, the toddler area provides a safe and age-appropriate area to play. The on-site pavilion is convenient for guests who packed their meal, while food and drinks are always available for purchase. When you need a change of pace from water activities, play some mini golf or practice your swing at the park’s batting cages.
3. Water Mine Family Swimmin‘ Hole

If you want a water park with no holds barred, then you will like the Water Mine Family Swimmin‘ Hole. This Wild West-themed water park is packed with slides, showers, activity pools, and a 725-foot lazy river. Various slides jut out of the park’s focal point, Pete’s Peak, that command exploration. The huge thrill of the day, however, is going down one of three 3-story water slides that descend from Prospectors Plummet!
4. Atlantis Waterpark at Bull Run

The Atlantis Waterpark at Bull Run is located in Centreville’s Bull Run Regional Park, featuring an awesome splash zone with a thousand-gallon dump bucket! There are also two huge water slides that can send you splashing into the big pool. For smaller children, there are designated play areas with lower water levels. When you want to simply relax by the water, the open pools will also be waiting for you.
5. Pirate’s Cove Waterpark

“Arrrgg” you ready to have a great time? This seasonal water park is a swashbuckling hideaway in Lorton’s Pohick Bay Regional Park. Relax on the manmade Buccaneer Beach or hang out at the big pool. Pirate’s Cove Waterpark also has fast slides and water jets to add to your aquatic adventure. When you have worked up an appetite swimming, the picnic areas and the Captain’s Galley Café make it convenient to refuel.

This list can’t be complete without Kings Dominion. Kings Dominion doubles as an amusement and water park that is big enough to provide a full day’s entertainment.
